"If it's not fun, it's not Rotary" - this is what I want to cherish as I lead this year as president. Rotary has its roots in friendship, service, and growth, and in order to achieve this, we must first have fun and work on our own.
With the sudden resignation of Mario Cesar Martíns de Camargo, RI President-elect Francesco Arezzo was elected as a new President-elect based on RI Constitution and policy, and Camargo's theme of "UNITE FOR GOOD" will be inherited. This is a message that each Rotarian may have great power, but by working together with their peers, they can bring greater good to society. It exactly overlaps with the attitude of our Rotary Club of Ichikawa.
Francesco Arezzo also spoke of the need for Rotary to continue to evolve with innovation and flexibility in today's rapidly changing world. In the midst of dizzying changes in technology and values, we must also seek and actively incorporate activities and club management that are in line with the times. On the other hand, we must never forget our strong will to preserve the history and traditions that have been built up over the years. I think that balancing this is the attitude necessary for the Rotary Club of Ichikawa in the future.
Whether it's a declining population, changing communities, or diversifying values, the environment around us is never flat. Rotary is also at a crossroads. That's why we need to reaffirm our true Rotary activities—that is, our spirit of service, our bonds with our peers, and our connections with our communities—and convey their value to society at large.
As the district slogan "Let's grow for ourselves and the club", we will first have fun, learn, and grow ourselves, and we will further strengthen the sense of unity as a club along with increasing our membership. We will also promote activities that make the local community feel more familiar with the significance and appeal of Rotary.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of our partnership with our sister club, the Rotary Club of Puli. To commemorate this, we will hold a 60th anniversary ceremony in Japan together with the Rotary Club of Puli. We will take this historic exchange as an opportunity to pass on to the next generation.
Boldly try new things and have a year of constant smiles. And let's unite all club members to build the future of the proud Rotary Club of Ichikawa together.
Thank you for your cooperation throughout the year.
