This year's RI president is Jennifer Jones of Canada, the first female RI president. The theme is "IMAGINE ROTARY". Inspired by the Beatles song "IMAGINE," it's a very abstract and difficult subject, but it seems that they want to "imagine" a better Rotary club in the future and have each country, district, and club work with their own purpose and "create" a better Rotary club.
In response to this theme, Governor Sumio Ogura of District 2790 called the district's slogan
"Let's build trust with our fellow Rotary people and change the world from Chiba!"
"Enjoy Rotary and do good in the community and the world!"
I decided. Articulate the vision of your club, engage more members, and engage in new service activities(business)Let's work on this and act to make that dream come true.
In the past three and a half years, due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, we have been unable to hold club activities such as regular meetings for a total of nearly 12 months, and we have been asked to change our behavior. The fundamentals of Rotary are fellowship and service. We will make our regular meetings, fellowships, and service activities more fulfilling under the "WITH CORONA" mentality, which was not possible until now due to the coronavirus, and strive to ensure that our members can have a fun and fulfilling Rotarian life.
RI rethinks the current district system, which has lasted more than 100 years, and envisions a new one.(SRF)It has been announced that implementation will begin in 2030, and the implementation of pilot districts will be discussed by the RI Council on Legislation from April this year. In the previous fiscal year, discussions on group reorganization were sparked based on this initiative, and as a result, it was a blank slate, but RI reform is unavoidable. I would like to have a lively exchange of opinions at board meetings, club councils, club forums, and meetings.
With Corona, it's time for the world to change. We ask for your cooperation and encouragement so that we can preserve and develop the 70-year-old tradition and formality of the Rotary Club of Ichikawa in this change and transformation.
